Institutional Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) Established at Southern University, Funded by World Bank

The Ministry of Education, with the assistance of the World Bank, the Institutional Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) has been established at Southern University Bangladesh. Higher Education Quality Enhancement Project (HEQEP), IQAC of Southern University was formally inaugurated by Professor Dr. Mesbahuddin Ahmed, Head, Quality Assurance Unit, HEQEP, UGC.

After inauguration session a discussion and presentation Program was held at University Hall Room on 28 March.2016. Professor A. J. M. Nuruddin Chowdhury, Director of IQAC of Southern University presided over the program while The Vice-Chancellor of Southern University, Professor Dr. Md. Nurul Mustafa was present as a chief guest. Founder and Initiator of Southern University Mr. Sarwar Jahan, Quality Assurance Specialist of QAC, HEQEP, Professor Dr. Sanjoy Kumar Adhikary and Professor Dr. M. Abul Kashem were also present the discussion session as key note speakers.

After formal inauguration, the program had two technical sessions where Professor Dr. Mesbahuddin Ahmed gave the faculty members of Southern University a general idea about the quality assurance process. Quality Assurance Specialist of QAC, HEQEP, UGC Professor Dr. Sanjoy Kumar Adhikary and Professor Dr. M. Abul Kashem detailed the various steps, phases, and processes necessary for the IQAC. Deans, Advisers, Registrar, Heads and all Faculty members of Southern University were participated the program and enjoy answer question round.

Chief Guest, Professor Dr. Md. Nurul Mustafa, Vice-Chancellor of Southern University said, Southern University always does believe quality of education. We are trying at our level best how to improve quality of education and we have already gained success.

Professor Dr. Mesbahuddin Ahmed, Head, Quality Assurance Unit, HEQEP, Described the various steps UGC has undertaken to improve the quality of education in higher education institutions and the steps UGC has taken in establishing accreditation standard and promote quality assurance practices in private and public universities of Bangladesh. He believes that Southern University must be achieved quality of education and will known as a best renowned University all over the Bangladesh.
